New Ireland is a large island with a population 120,000 people. It is the second largest island of the New Guinea Islands region in Papua New Guinea. New Ireland Province, lying northeast of the island of New Britain. The administrative centre of the island and of New Ireland province is the town of Kavieng located at the northern end of the island.
